Guidance for Facebook Posting        News you can use in 2021

Do you feel like you can’t keep up with new algorithms & their effects on the social platforms you use?
You aren’t alone, but don’t think that any of us are really ahead of you, okay? We are all in the same virtual boat trying to find channel markers to follow. [Get it? “boat”, “channel markers”. Sailing metaphors. Well, on with it...]

Way back in 2019 (it does seem like a long time ago), Buffer analyzed more than 777M FB posts to find that posts of
  • Inspiration
  • Humor
  • Practical Tips
received the highest engagement. Remember? Engagement is what we are striving for initially. Engagement begets even more engagement.

In order for any of those attributes to work, however, they must resonate with the audience you want to reach.

From the expert point of view of @TheJenLehner on FB and her Front Row VIP program, all of those attributes fit nicely into the categories she recommends we social-posting-business-entrepreneurs concentrate on:
  1. Connection posts - inspiring, humorous, or practical attributes could be worked into a post that elicits information (aka engagement) from your followers.
  2. Expert posts – information showing your genius zone, your area of expertise, could and should have practical tips.
  3. Original or authentic posts – sharing the “real you” in a post always draws a crowd. Sharing a video of you baking tart shells that end up in a convex rather than a concave gets the attention of your followers. [Ask me how I know]

So go forth, brave mariner, and tack into the wind with your inspired, humorous or practical-but-expert tips to your followers.

Growing up in a rural community in the South, my farming/ranching father was a well-educated, soft-spoken man whose subtle philosophies of life impacted me in ways I've discovered only as an adult.
Many of the life lessons about which I write are reflective of imaginary conversations I've had with him.
